A look back…
For over half a decade, I have worked hard to secure a career in journalism.
My striving for that professional path all stemmed from what I later realized was a traumatic vision of warfare from half a world away. The details of that terrible war are unimportant for now. But what I saw in that video footage — hellfire being rained upon people, who wailed to the sky in anguish as more bombs fell — sparked in me a fire to save the world.
There was nothing unusual about that. How many young people have been, and continue to be, drawn on a crusade to change the wicked world? It’s an experience as old as history, at least.
